Bach’s brilliant choral writing is well known to music lovers throughout the world. His wonderful Mass in G is no exception to this. To the regular listener it presents like a cantata with a combination of arias, duets and choruses. In addition to the mass, the concert will feature a mix of further Bach choral music, including his Sanctus BWV 239 and Kyrie from Cantata Ein feste Burg. In contrast to the musical richness and profundity of Bach, we turn to some of Handel’s most melodic duets from Messiah.
In addition, as a foil to the choral works, the hauntingly beautiful Marcello Oboe Concert in C minor will be included in the programme. Come join us for an uplifting and inspiring Sunday afternoon in one of these two outstanding venues.
