In celebration of the festive season, esteemed conductor Kristin Bowtell leads the orchestra, chorus and guest vocalists in Beethoven’s early, transcendent Mass in C. Bridging church and concert hall better than almost any other mass, many regard this strikingly modern work not only as a passionate offering to God, but also as an intensely personal response to its central liturgical texts. Also on the program is Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, featuring four promising young soloists from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and the University of Western Australia. Share in the joy of Christmas with sumptuous choral music followed by a BYO picnic with chorus and orchestra by UWA’s Reflection Pond following the performance.
