Swan Harmony Singers’ 21st Anniversary Concert
Swan Harmony Singers have been especially busy this year. As their concerts in October and November mark two very different anniversaries, choir members are learning two completely different repertoires.
The first concert, on Sunday 14 October in Darlington Hall, celebrates the choir’s 21st birthday, while the second, on Sunday 11 November at the Salvation Army Church in Swan View, commemorates the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
For their 21st birthday next month, the concert program includes Beach Boys’ hit Kokomo, Feelin’ Good (made famous by Nina Simone), Charles Trenet’s lovely ballad I Wish you Love, and the traditional spiritual Wade in the Water. For this special occasion, the choir will also be reprising a few numbers that have become firm favourites over the years, songs like Fields of Gold, the Carpenters’ Yesterday Once More, Adele’s Skyfall, and Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah.
The concert starts at 3pm. Tickets (including afternoon tea) are: Adults $20, Concessions $15, groups of 10 or more $150. Children under 10 are free. More details: call Anna Wright 9299 7249. Advance bookings: Mundaring Community Bank 9295 6411, or Anna (as above).
